Quality Construction of Pickleball Courts
C.R. Peterson Incorporated is not only known for being one of the oldest tennis court builders, but also builds other sport style courts including pickleball.
Typically, hard courts are constructed with an 8” gravel base, 2 lifts of 1.5” each of asphalt total of 3” of asphalt. Once the asphalt has been installed, there is a 21-day cure time for the emulsions and polymers to dissipate from the asphalt. When the cure time is complete, the preparations can begin to the court surface. The court is checked for any low area or birdbaths and patched, followed by the application of acrylics to the court surface.
Maintenance Tips
- Remove debris from tennis court surface. Do not allow leaves, plants or grass clippings to stay on the surface which will stain or discolor the court.
- Spills on the court should be cleaned up immediately. If it appears to have stained the surface, used mild soap such as Dawn dish soap and water with a soft brush
- Any standing water will create a water stain mark and it’s best to remove it with a Roll-Dri water remover.
- Keep area with no grass and plants at least 1-2 feet from the perimeter of the tennis court. Trees should not be planted directly next to the tennis court. This will help prevent root intrusion into your court and any future damage.
- The surrounding landscape should be lower than the court surface; this will permit water to run off the court surface.
